Canadian tennis fans could finally see their golden girl back in action this month, if the U.S. Open's prediction is correct.

Bianca Andreescu's U.S. Open return could be on the cards, as the tournament revealed on Tuesday, August 4 that her name is included on the initial players' list. The tournament starts on August 31 in New York.

Andreescu hasn't played a competitive match in 10 months

It's set to be the first major tennis event since the COVID-19 outbreak became a global pandemic in March. However, players can still withdraw despite being named, and a recent report suggested the 20-year-old may not actually play.

The tournament also unveiled its promotional banner for the 2020 edition on Tuesday. Andreescu is not included on it, despite being the defending champion after winning last year's edition.

The then-teenager from Mississauga burst onto the global scene in 2019 after beating Serena Williams in the final of the major competition. Since October, she's missed various tournaments through first injury and then the pandemic.
