On Twitter, the Leafs released a statement thanking the NHL, all levels of government and public health officials for making this happen.

The organization will work with public health officials and the league to make sure everyone, including the people of Toronto, are safe.

"The wait is over, Oilers fans," the team said on social media. "Hockey is coming home."

All qualifier games and the Stanley Cup Playoffs will take place at Rogers Place in Edmonton and Scotiabank Arena in Toronto between August and October.

NHL teams will be based in those two cities throughout the rest of the season.

In Edmonton, western conference players will be staying at the Sutton Place Hotel and the JW Marriot

In Toronto, eastern conference players will be taking over Hotel X and the Fairmont Royal York.
