From one Canadian to another! The prime minister has taken to Twitter to share his well-wishes after The Weeknd’s Super Bowl performance on Sunday night.

Tagging the Toronto-born singer in his message, Justin Trudeau congratulated him for “rocking the world’s biggest stage” during the Super Bowl on February 7, 2021.

It was a historic performance for The Weeknd, whose off-stage name is Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, as he’s the first Canadian to ever headline a solo Super Bowl halftime show.

Canada's PM acknowledged the achievement, adding, “Hope you heard all the cheers from back home.”

It was a sentiment backed up by several leading Canadian politicians, including NDP leader Jagmeet Singh who described the show as an example of “Canadian excellence.”

Toronto Mayor John Tory also got involved in the love-fest, tweeting, “From Scarborough all the way to the world’s biggest stage. Making Toronto proud.”

In true Super Bowl style, the halftime show was pretty extra and reportedly cost around $7 million to produce.

It included a selection of the star’s most famous songs, including "Can't Feel My Face," "The Hills," "Earned It," and "Blinding Lights," among others.
