You'll travel through starlit scenery and a charming village.

Lead Writer, Travel

Have you ever dreamed of riding the Polar Express? This enchanting Christmas train near Toronto will have you feeling like you've stepped into a holiday fairy tale and it's brimming with festive magic.

The Waterloo Central Railway is hosting a Santa's Candy Crossing experience on select dates from November 14 to December 22, 2024.

The dazzling nighttime train ride departs from the WCR Farmers' Market Station and takes you on a 1-hour journey through snowy countryside and starlit scenes.

You'll travel through the charming St. Jacobs Village to Santa's Candy Crossing before heading back to the station.

According to the website, you'll be treated to a "fully immersive holiday production full of entertainment, music," and more while on board as you help Santa bring batches of Christmas candy to the Crossing.

You can enjoy interactive singing, visits from holiday characters and a sweet treat as you ride the all-out Christmas train.

Although the train isn't officially associated with the iconic Christmas movie, the twinkling lights and festive decor make it feel just like a real-life Polar Express.

You can choose from the standard coach car seating or the first class lounge car with upholstered seats and specialty cookies.

Guests are encouraged to wear ugly Christmas sweaters or Christmas pjs and bring their letters to Santa.

The Waterloo Central Railway has several other festive experiences to enjoy this holiday season, including the daytime Santa's Jolly Journey and the new 19 + Santa's Nightcap ride.

Tickets for Santa's Candy Crossing are available online, so put on your favourite Christmas pjs and get ready for an enchanting Yuletide adventure.
