McDonald's Reveals That 2 Toronto Locations Had Confirmed COVID-19 Cases In The Last Week

Two cases of COVID-19 at Toronto McDonald's locations were reported in the last week and the employees who tested positive were at work during that time as well.

McDonald's told Narcity that on October 9, two employees who worked at different locations reported that they tested positive for the virus.

Both restaurants were immediately shut down so that they could be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized which was a certified third party.

2781 Dufferin Street / 1530 Albion Road the two locations where employees tested positive recently

One of the locations that has a positive case is at 1530 Albion Road.

All of the crew members who might've been in close contact with them have been asked to quarantine.

That person last worked on October 3 from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

At the 2781 Dufferin Street location, an employee who tested positive had their last shift at work on October 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Crew members were also asked to quarantine if they were in close contact.

Both locations reopened on the morning of October 10 after the cleaning and sanitization were done.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, had close contact with a confirmed case or are part of an outbreak investigation, you can only get tested at an assessment centre.

You can go get a test done at a pharmacy if you don't have symptoms.

Premier Doug Ford is self-isolating in Toronto after coming in "close contact" with a positive COVID-19 case, his office told Narcity in an emailed statement. 

A member of Ford's staff tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday evening, and the premier came into contact with this staff member on Monday.

Some Shoppers Drug Marts In Ontario Are Administering Vaccine Doses 24/7

Twenty locations are vaccinating around the clock starting this week.

Shoppers Drug Mart stores will soon begin administering COVID-19 vaccines in Ontario 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at some locations.

A news release from the provincial government says that starting as early as April 21, 20 Shoppers Drug Mart locations will start administering doses around the clock, 16 of which will be in hot spot areas.

A new COVID-19 variant has been discovered in Texas by scientists at the Texas A&M University Global Health Research Complex (GHRC).

The variant, dubbed "BV-1," has only been found in one individual with mild symptoms and it is presenting similar features to the current variant that is spreading around the United Kingdom, but scientists are not sure if antibodies are effective against it.
