Toronto's Iconic Fran's Restaurant On Yonge Is Apparently Closed For Good

Thanks for the perfect hangover breakfasts.
Staff Writer

It's a sad day for breakfast fans across Toronto as Fran's Restaurant's Yonge and Front Street location looks like it's shutting its doors for good.

According to Toronto CityNews, the restaurant is blaming COVID-19 and an "un-cooperative landlord" for closing down.

The brand was given no choice but to shut down one of its iconic downtown locations. Fran's Restaurant

The iconic spot, which was known for its all-day breakfast food, will reportedly be shuttered by December 31.

However, the locations at Yonge and College and Victoria and Shuter are, as of this moment, still open.

According to the restaurant's website, Fran's has been running since 1940, when owner Francis "Fran" Deck opened the first iteration of the chain on Yonge and St. Clair.

Back then, it was only a small ten-stool diner.

All locations of the restaurant were closed to in-person dining due to COVID-19 restrictions. However, their website still advertises 24-hour take-out and delivery.

Uber Eats also has Fran's menu available through their app so you can still enjoy your mouthwatering favourites if you live in the area.
