"The Toronto Police Service continuously monitors security issues not just in Toronto but also around the world."

"In response, we make the appropriate adjustments to our plans in order to mitigate the potential risks to public safety."

This decision is in response to "the recent events in Washington D.C. and other areas of the United States," wrote TPS.

According to de Kloet, there is no identified threat to Toronto residents. The increased security will be preventative.

Earlier this month, two pro-Trump rallies took place in the city. The demonstrations were organized on Facebook by a group called Canadians For Trump.
