An Ontario MPP is asking people to sign a petition that calls for an to end the province's stay-at-home order.

Roman Baber, MPP for York Centre, states that the lockdown is "ineffective" and is having a "catastrophic effect" on the well-being of Ontarians.

In the announcement, which Baber originally posted to Facebook last month, he asks residents to speak up against and oppose the government's lockdown restrictions.

The politician's website allows people to add their signature by plugging in their name, address and phone number.

It's unclear at the moment how many people have signed.

Baber was ejected from the Conservative party last month after publicly stating that Ontario's lockdown was "deadlier" than COVID-19.

He argued that the order has failed to curb COVID-19 cases, while increasing the province's overdose rates and mental health problems.

However, Doug Ford later rebuked Baber's claims and called him out for "spreading misinformation."
