The Canadian government has announced its initial preparation plans for an Ontario COVID-19 vaccine, set to roll out in 2021.

In a notice posted to its website, the federal government announced it's looking to hire a company to help with the distribution and delivery of the vaccine.

And they say it could come as early as a few months from now.

It is anticipated that vaccines will be available from manufacturers in a phased manner beginning in the first quarter of 2021. Government of Canada

The successful company should be equipped to distribute the vaccine across the country in a matter of 48 hours, in the event of an emergency requiring a mass rollout.

The listing says the company they hire will need to be ready to start the project come December 15.

According to the World Health Organization, there are currently 10 companies with vaccines at the third and final phase of their trials.*

Phase III is when the vaccine is given to thousands of people to test how well it works and how safe it is before it's rolled out to the general public.*

Just last week, Premier Doug Ford rolled out a new colour-coded alert system for tracking and managing new cases of COVID-19.

On November 6, Ontario reported 1,003 new cases of the novel coronavirus.
