OPP Warn That Scammers Are Posing As Health Agencies Who Say You're Exposed To COVID-19

A new Ontario scam is taking advantage of the province's struggle against COVID-19.

According to the South Bruce OPP, fraudsters are now getting residents to give personal information by posing as established health agencies.

The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has had reports of scams relating to the pandemic. South Bruce OPP

The scams, which occurs via phone call, notify their victims that they've been "exposed" to COVID-19. 

The fraudster then reportedly asks for personal information so they can process your results for a fee. 

Police also state that scammers are posing as contractors who show up at your door to "spray for COVID." 

Scams are a growing concern for Ontarians in the digital age. 

Last year, scammers were trying to sell fake COVID-19 test kits in Toronto. 

Police are reminding residents to be cautious and always verify who they are dealing with when accepting phone calls.
