The Waterparks of Ontario Coalition says it's ready to invite guests back for summer fun in 2021.

Waterparks like Wet'n'Wild Toronto and Great Wolf Lodge in Niagara Falls are hopeful that Ontarians will get to enjoy their attractions this year.

"We are at a critical point right now," says Wet'n'Wild GM Steve Mayer.

"Having been closed for more than a year, we will need three months to prepare for the summer weather — to get the equipment ready, recruit staff and ensure they are properly trained on the safe re-opening guidelines."

After being the only region in Canada to shut down waterparks in summer 2020, the coalition says that last year's data suggests that they can safely resume operations.

Mayer says "chlorinated pools, ultraviolet light from the sun and specialized equipment and fresh air to fight the spread" are just some of the ways waterparks can keep visitors safe.

This announcement comes after major summer attractions like Canada's Wonderland and the CNE announced plans to reopen this year.
