Massive Crowds Come Together In Mississauga For Peaceful Pro-Palestinian Rally (VIDEO)
They marched from Celebration Square onto surrounding streets.
Large crowds rallied together in downtown Mississauga on Tuesday to show support for Palestinians amid ongoing violence in the Middle East.
The rally was organized by the Palestinian Canadian Community Centre in Mississauga, reports CBC. It took place just days after a similar demonstration in Toronto's Nathan Phillips Square over the weekend, which had more than 5,000 people in attendance, according to Toronto Police.
Tuesday's rally began in Celebration Square and continued along neighbouring streets, leading to some road closures in the area.
Demonstrators chanted phrases like "free, free Palestine," and "occupation is a crime."
Demonstrators carried posters to display their allyship and support for Palestinians.
Cars honked in unison as protestors waved their Palestinian and Canadian flags.
The demonstration comes as Prime Minister Justin Trudeau calls for a cease-fire between Israelis and Palestinians. "Our hearts go out to Israelis and Palestinians for the violence that is surrounding them right now. We've all seen the tragic images, families, innocents, kids affected. It needs to stop," he said. "That's why Canada is calling for a cease-fire."
