'Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World' Is 10 Years Old Today & It's A Love Letter To Toronto

Dear 6ix, we love you, and we’re not the only ones. There are so many Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Toronto connections and as the movie turns 10 years old today, the city is remembering how the cult classic repped the area like no other film. You can see so much of Toronto throughout the iconic film that it’s basically a love letter to us all.

The movie's title has been trending on Twitter on August 13, and is even being reshown in some select theatres for its birthday.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, its director, Edgar Wright, has been sharing incredible behind-the-scenes-pictures of the cast living it up in Toronto. 

It’s no secret that Toronto is a hot spot for filming movies and TV shows, and Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is just one of many well-known flicks that have used the 6ix as a backdrop.

However, unlike most movies and shows, this one doesn’t try to mask the fact that they’re in Canada rather than popular U.S. settings like New York City.

Instead, it wears its love for the city loud and proud, showing off city staples like the CN Tower, Castle Loma, Honest Ed's (RIP), Lee’s Palace, and more.

This isn’t too surprising when you realize the author who wrote the original comic books, Bryan Lee O’Malley, is from Toronto himself.

The actor who plays Knives Chau, is also from the city. Even lead star, Michael Cera, hails from the GTA, having been born and raised in Brampton.

We love a cast who are proud of their city!

In the multiple photos shared by Wright, you can see the cast riding public transit, sipping coffee at Second Cup, grabbing a hot slice at Pizza Pizza, and posing in front of the CN Tower.

You know, a typical day in the 6ix. A Scott Pilgrimage around the city, you could say.

According to a video shared by Netflix Canada on Twitter, even the Sex Bob-Omb’s music is dripping with Toronto pride. 

Real-life Toronto-based band Metric wrote some of the songs you hear in the movie.

In a YouTube video posted in 2009, you can watch as Scott Pilgrim author O'Malley visits some of the Toronto filming locations that are featured the film. 

This includes the Goodwill store you see Scott and Knives shopping in, Scott’s home, and more.

According to O’Malley, he drew a lot of inspiration for Scott’s “hole-in-the-wall” home from his own Toronto residence, which is located just around the corner from the spot you see in the movie.

So now that you're flooded with Scott Pilgrim memories and Toronto love, it might be time to give this incredible movie a re-watch.
