It was a violent evening in Toronto on Wednesday. A slew of four separate shootings, three of which were reported within 10 minutes of each other, have left six people with injuries. Toronto shooting incidents are on the way to breaking records this year, according to police data.

All of the incidents happened in the city's northwest end, and they all played out before the sun had set.

The first occurrence was tweeted by police at 6:34 p.m. and happened at Kipling Avenue and Mount Olive Drive. There were two victims who sustained injuries.

Minutes later, at 6:40 p.m., TPS tweeted about another incident nearby, at Martin Grove Road and Pittsboro Drive, where one person was shot.

After another five minutes, at 6:45 p.m., it was reported that multiple gunshots could be heard at Finch Avenue West and Goldfinch Crescent, but no injuries or further details are known.

The final shooting of the evening happened at 7:54 p.m., and it was the one with most victims.

It was in the area of Shoreham Crescent and Jane Street, where three people sustained gunshot wounds and were sent to the hospital.

In a year-to-date report from Toronto Police, it says that there have been 296 shootings in Toronto this year so far, with 133 people killed or hurt.

In the 2019 report, there had been a total of 492 shootings during the whole year, which has 284 people killed or injured.

Toronto Police have said that "gun violence continues to be a daily occurrence this summer" and that we are  "on track to beat last year’s record-setting number of shootings."

This time last year, there were fewer shootings overall by August.

Between January 1, 2019 and August 20, 2019, TPS recorded 283 shooting incidents in the city, which is 13 less than today's numbers, which are at 296.

There have been tons of reports of gun violence in broad daylight in Toronto this year.

A 26-year-old woman was shot on Queen Street at 2 p.m. earlier in August.

In July, another 26-year-old was shot outside of Scarborough Town Centre in broad daylight and sustained serious injuries.
