The TTC Is Closing A Bunch Of Toronto Subway Stations For The Next 2 Weekends & Here's Where

Shuttle buses will not be running.

Lead Writer, Travel

If you're considering taking public transit this weekend, it might be wise to plan alternate routes. Several Toronto subway stations along Line 1 are set to close, potentially affecting your travel plans to and from the city's core.

The TTC has announced that there will be no subway service at six stations for the next two weekends "due to track and station upgrades."

Why you should care: From January 13 to 14 and 20 to 21, 2024, subways along the section of Line 1 Yonge-University between St George and St Andrew stations will not be running.

Shuttle buses will not be operating "due to traffic conditions," but the TTC "is increasing service on downtown surface routes to ensure customers have convenient transit options in place of subway service."

If you're travelling downtown during this time, the TTC has outlined some alternate transit routes and options so you can still get around. You can check out the TTC website for more information and to plan your travels.

While Museum, Queens Park and St Patrick stations will be fully closed, all other subway stations will be open, so you can still load PRESTO cards, buy PRESTO tickets and connect to surface routes.

According to the TTC, "extra standby Wheel-Trans vehicles will also be available throughout the downtown core." You can expect extra TTC staff at all downtown TTC stations to provide customer assistance.

ICYMI: Weekend subway service interruptions along this section of Line 1 aren't a new occurrence. Over the past few months, track work and other upgrades have occasionally impacted service between St George and St Andrew stations.

Keep reading: The TTC recently made some upgrades to several bus routes to allow for increased capacity during busy travel times.
