Charles McVety is a long time supporter of the Premier, but has been accused of homophobic, Islamophobic, and transphobic views, reports CTV Toronto.

The bill to grant McVety's college university status passed by a vote of 29-27 today.

Some are accusing Ford of granting a political favour to his close supporter.

Many were outraged and took their concerns to social media.

MPP of Beaches-East York Rima Berns-McGown was clear in her stance towards the passing of the bill.

Marit Stiles, MPP for Davenport, took a more humorous approach to her desire to vote Ford out.

Laura Mae Lindo, MPP for Kitchener Centre and member of the NDP party, had strong words for Ford and attached an NDP statement along with the tweet.

Kathleen Wynne of Don Valley West called McVety a "divisive, dangerous man."

Last week, a study reported that the Premier's approval ratings had dropped significantly since August of this year.
