With so many amazing bucket list-worthy places in Florida, it’s hard to pick which spots you want to hit first! We’ve got another one to add your list now with one of the most amazing camping experiences in an incredible Amazon rainforest-like getaway. After a day of paddling through lush, vibrant forests on the Kings Landing River Run Adventure, you can camp for just $5 at the Wekiwa Springs State Park.
The river run adventure is the ultimate connection with nature, with several different ways to enjoy the water. You can rent a two- or three-seater canoe for $50, a one-person kayak for $50, or a two-person kayak for $60.
If you’re keen on just swimming and lounging on the sand bar, there are plenty of rope swings and swimming holes to enjoy too, just purchase a swim pass for $30. If you have your own boat, you’re welcome to launch from their marina as well.
There’s no telling what you could end up seeing on your adventure, so keep an eye out for deer, otters, bears, and even the odd monkey!
There are several different routes to take, including Emerald Cut which is a 2-mile paddle upstream, and the 8.5 miles trip down the Rock Springs Run, which has a return shuttle back to Kings Landing.
Before you plan your trip, make sure to bring cash because that’s the only form of payment that's accepted.
You can also partake in a three-hour guided kayak tour to explore the sights of Central Florida, held each Monday and Tuesday for $50.
Although Kings Landing doesn’t currently offer camping, they hope to in the future. In the meantime, you can stay at three different sites along the water’s edge for only $5.
These campsites are run by the Wekiwa Springs State Park, so you can call to book your reservation with them.
Thankfully, Kings Landing does offer overnight canoe rentals for $70, plus your shuttle return for the following day.
