Justin Trudeau has revealed that vaccine passports in Canada are a real possibility when the border reopens.

Speaking during a press conference on April 27, he said COVID-19 vaccination certificates are "naturally to be expected" as countries open up and non-essential travel restarts.

"Scientists and other experts are currently closely watching the impact of full vaccination on the ability of the virus to spread," the PM explained on Tuesday. "Once the time is right, we will open up the borders up again, properly, perhaps with necessary vaccination certificates."

However, he went on to add that Canada is "not yet at this point."

This comes as the European Union and the United States discuss a proposed Digital Green Certificate, which would allow restriction-free travel between the U.S. and 27 European member countries.
