The province of B.C. just launched its vaccine passport website and the portal is officially open for applications.

More details on the system are expected to be announced by the province Tuesday afternoon, but as of right now, B.C. residents can log on to the government website and sign up to prove that they've been vaccinated against COVID-19.

However, there's already an online queue with wait times of up to 20 minutes.

Starting on September 13, the digital passport will be needed to enter places like restaurants, movie theatres, concerts, gyms, and a variety of other non-discretionary activities.

"Events, businesses and services will ask to see your proof of vaccination and valid government ID," reads the government website.

To apply for the vaccine card, B.C. residents will need to show their date of birth, personal health number, and the date that they received one or two COVID-19 vaccinations.

According to the government, an alternative secure paper option will also be available for September 13.

If you plan on visiting B.C. from another province, you'll need to show valid government ID as well as an officially recognized vaccine record to attend events.
