It's summertime, and things are getting hot. The weekend calls for heading out of the city and cooling off in a swimming hole near Vancouver. From emerald waters to sparkling shores, there's a lot of spots to go for a dip that aren't far from the city.

Take notes, because here's seven beautiful swimming spots in and around Vancouver for you to go to on the next scorcher.

Mystery Lake

If you're up for a little hike, you can head out on the three-kilometre-long trail that leads to Mystery Lake. It's set in Mount Seymour Provincial Park, and a great spot to cool off on a hot day.

Vancouver Trails rates the hike there as "easy" so don't be too discouraged by the journey.

Davidson's Pool

This beautiful swimming spot is on a lazy river, making for a fun day trip away from the city. It's in Maple Ridge, about an hour away from Vancouver, and the perfect spot to cool off on a sunny weekend.

So grab a tube and head here for a relaxing day on the water!

30 Foot Pool

This emerald green pool is in North Vancouver's Lynn Canyon Park, nestled in the thick forest. It's a serene spot for a dip (although it's chilly) and you can sit out on the rocks afterwards.

Whytecliff Park

While there's lots of beaches around Vancouver, the rocky shore of Whytecliff Park has a certain appeal. It's as scenic as it gets, with a great sunset view and a sense of being removed from the city.

It's set in West Vancouver, so perfect for a quick afternoon trip.

Wreck Beach

Yes, this is technically a nude beach, but it's also just one of the nicest shorelines in Vancouver. It's tucked away next to the UBC Campus, and the long staircase down to the sand makes it feel like a remote little corner of the city.

The view from the beach is wide open ocean, and the sunset here is also phenomenal.

Whether you opt to go suit-free or not, this is a solid choice for a beach day in Vancouver.

Crescent Beach

If you want to escape Vancouver then drive out to Crescent Beach in Surrey. It's right by White Rock, so you can take a stroll down the longest pier in Canada after going for a dip.

Clean water, soft sand, and great views are all here — and it's just 45 minutes from Downtown Vancouver.

Lindeman Lake

This spot is two hours away from Vancouver, but if you're up for a bit of a road trip — it's a fun destination.

The water is a bright green and there's mountains wrapped around the lake, making the whole thing look like it's from a postcard.

To reach it you'll have to hike the Lindeman Lake trail — which is about 1.5 kilometres. Round trip the hike is around 3.4 kilometres long and will take about two hours to finish.

It's chilly water here, so make sure to go on a warm day if you want to brave a dip!
