This 'stretch of paradise' in BC with dreamy shores was dubbed a top vacation spot by locals

Winter is inching towards a close, and with it comes the excitement of vacation planning. Summer trips to dreamy beach towns, camping adventures, and island getaways await us during B.C.'s warmer months.

One sunny destination was named among the top vacation spots in the province, when locals were asked what their go-to recommendations are, on the Narcity Facebook Page.

The Sunshine Coast is as dreamy as its name suggests, with stunning shorelines, ocean vistas, and lush forests. The tourism website calls it a "180 km stretch of paradise," and there's lots to do on a trip here.

It's a popular summer destination for those in B.C. since it's a relatively short ferry ride from Vancouver. BC Ferries leaves from the Horseshoe Bay terminal in West Vancouver and can bring you to the Sunshine Coast in about 40 minutes.

While it's a quick trip, you'll feel like you're a world away from the city once you arrive. Small communities are scattered around the area, offering a slower pace.

The two main areas of the region are the Northern Sunshine Coast and the Southern Sunshine Coast, which are connected by a ferry.

Starting in Gibsons — which is the town near the Langdale ferry terminal – you can drive around the coast, stopping in at the small towns to explore the local shops, cute coffee shops, and tasty restaurants.

The South Coast is great for a quicker trip from Vancouver. Driving along Highway 101 will take you through Gibsons, Roberts Creek, Sechelt, Halfmoon Bay & Secret Cove, Pender Harbour, and Egmont.

The North Coast offers another layer of adventure for a more extended trip filled with unreal views and pristine nature, often without as many crowds.

Like many places in B.C., a big draw here is the beautiful nature. The rugged coastline is broken up by beaches, parks, and trails that make exploring a must.

According to the tourism website, there are over 800 identified trails here, from paths through old-growth forests to oceanside strolls.

Beach-going is at the top of the list of things to do here, with plenty of scenic shores. Armours Beach in Gibsons is a go-to for swimmers, and Davis Bay in Sechelt is a beautiful stop on a road trip up the coast.

Porpoise Bay Provincial Park is the place to go for sandy beaches and grassy areas alongside a vibrant forest. There's no shortage of picturesque spots along the Sunshine Coast though, ready to adventure into.
