In the midst of this wintry weather you might be dreaming of a vacation. Before you know it summer will be upon us, so you might want to book that trip.

This small town on Vancouver Island is the ideal spot to go in the warmer months, with long stretches of sandy beaches, rainforest hikes, and a quaint community.

B.C. locals gave some insight into their top vacation recommendations in the province, on the Narcity Facebook Page, and this spot stood out among the rest as a go-to.

Tofino is a well-known vacation spot, but earns the high praise it receives. Set on the west coast of Vancouver Island, about 4 and a half hours from Victoria, Tofino is where rugged wilderness meets touristy charm.

You can take your pick of scenic beaches, from the 16-kilometre-long stretch of Long Beach to the surfing paradise of Cox Bay.

Hiking trails wind into nature throughout the area, from rainforest paths that take you past old growth trees to stunning viewpoints overlooking the coastline.

Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is also here, and adds yet another layer of breathtaking beauty to the area. The lush greenery of the park feels like an escape from the outside world.

Since people flock to the shores here when the sun comes out, things can get pricey in Tofino. You'll find lots of camping ground though which are usually cheaper than other accommodations, and let you soak in nature for the entire trip.

The small town is lively, with little shops, restaurants, and a waterfront that's perfect for watching the sun go down.

It's the ultimate laid-back beach vacation spot, with a kind of natural beauty that will keep you coming back.
