A BC island with sandy beaches and sprawling gardens was named among the best vacation spots
A getaway is calling. 🏖️ 💐

The Butchart Gardens. Right: Pacific Rim National Park.
The sun is starting to come out more, and nothing says summer like getting out of the city for a little getaway. Dreamy small towns, stretches of sandy beaches, and ocean vistas await in the season ahead – and this island has it all.
We asked the Narcity Facebook Page what people's go-to vacation spots in the province are, and Vancouver Island came up time and time again.
One short trip won't do it, no — Vancouver Island requires you to explore thoroughly to get the full effect. From the bustling streets of Victoria to famous seaside towns like Tofino, there are endless things to do and views to see here. It's a vacation destination that will keep drawing you back again and again because, with each trip, you just want to see more of the island.
The area's trademark beauty is unlike anywhere else in the world. Misty coastlines melt into thick rainforests, where you can escape into a world of deep greens and towering trees.
One of the most iconic spots to take it in is Pacific Rim National Park, which stretches out along the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Part of the park is in Tofino, a town famous for its scenic white sand beaches, quaint vibes, and surfing. It's a popular spot, especially in the summer, but well worth a visit.
If you're willing to dive further into the island's corners, you can head to Cape Scott Provincial Park, where you'll find the serene shores of San Josef Bay. The striking blue water here washes up onto soft sand alongside sea stacks and caves that add to the tranquil beauty of this spot.
There's no shortage of natural wonders, from hiking the mountain wilderness of Strathcona Park to adventuring through a forest to reach the breathtaking Mystic Beach.
Aside from the wild, untouched nature the island offers, though, is the beauty of its cities and towns. Victoria is the biggest city here, but even it has a certain small-town vibe, lacking the hecticness of some of Canada's major hubs.
Nature is woven into the city's fabric, never far out of reach with the sparkling waterfront, idyllic parks and nearby sites.
The Butchart Gardens is a perfect example, with 55 acres of sparkling gardens as an oasis just outside the city. You can escape into a world of colour here, with manicured blooms and winding pathways.
A vacation to the island is full of adventure, balance, and, most of all, beauty. It's easy to see why people love this spot and keep returning.
