Vancouver is known to be one of Canada's most expensive cities to rent in, but that price varies a decent amount depending on the neighbourhood. Vancouver's cheapest and most expensive neighbourhoods were released in a recent report, so you can take note of where to live to save a bit of cash.

Overall there was some good news for Vancouverites because the liv.rent October 2024 report for Metro Vancouver rent said that rent prices are $25 a month cheaper than the same time last year. "Lowering interest rates combined with measures from the Canadian government to increase housing affordability are possible contributing factors to this price decrease," the report said.

That doesn't mean it's exactly cheap though. The city still has an average of $2,381/month for a one-bedroom unfurnished unit. That rent cost can vary though depending on where in the city you live, because there's "an $823/month gap between Vancouver’s most vs least expensive neighbourhoods."

Vancouver's cheapest neighbourhood

Sunset-Victoria Fraserview has unfurnished one-bedroom units that will go for an average of $2,172 per month — making it Vancouver's cheapest neighbourhood to rent in, according to the study.

Vancouver's most expensive neighbourhood

West Point Grey/UBC is the city's most expensive neighbourhood to rent in. Rent here will cost an average of $2,995 per month, for an unfurnished one-bedroom unit.
