Officers in Victoria made a disturbing discovery over the weekend — one B.C. park had a needle strapped to a railing, which was found uncapped and previously used.

Victoria Police found it on Sunday afternoon, August 2, along a "heavily used path" in the popular Beacon Hill Park.

Officers believe the needle was placed in this location with the intent to cause injury.

Officers say the needle had a "small amount of blood" inside it, and disposed of it in a safe manner.

"The needle was located in the West side of the park, near Douglas and Toronto streets," wrote police.

If you have any information about the incident, the police ask that you call the non-emergency line at (250) 995-7654.
