Enchanting small towns, rolling countryside and winter charm awaits at this dreamy Ontario destination. If you're looking for a weekend getaway this cozy season, you'll want to pack your bags and head to this picturesque spot.

Destination Ontario revealed some of Ontario's cozy, winter destinations inspired by hygge — a Scandinavian concept with a focus on relaxation and contentment.

Lanark County is one of the destinations suggested for a cozy winter getaway. Located just outside of Ottawa, the region is home to "some of Ontario’s prettiest towns," according to Destination Ontario.

You can explore enchanting villages like Pakenham and Smiths Falls for a magical snowy-weather experience.

Perth will have you feeling like you're on a trip to Scotland as you wander past the stone buildings and quaint shops.

During the holiday season, you'll want to head to Almonte, known as the "Christmas Capital of Ontario." The town has been featured in several Hallmark films and boasts glittering shop windows and movie-worthy charm.

Lanark County is actually known as the "Maple Syrup Capital of Ontario" so it will add a touch of sweetness to your adventure.

There are a range of winter activities to enjoy in the region, such as snowmobiling, skating and skiing.

Other fun activities include farm tours, art tours and events such as the Perth Frost & Fire Winter Festival.

If you're craving a cozy, hygge escape this winter, Lanark County is worth a road trip.
