Canada Reveals What Needs To Be Done So Restrictions Can Be Lifted This Summer

You might be wondering, "will summer 2021 be normal?" New data from the Public Health Agency of Canada reveal what needs to happen so that restrictions can be lifted this summer.

According to the data sent to Narcity on April 23, the season "holds promise" if Canadians keep doing their part.

If the country's vaccine rollout goes as planned, 75% of adults will have received their first dose and 20% will have received their second dose by mid-summer, which could mean the gradual easing of restrictions.

Dr. Theresa Tam said this shows there is hope that public health measures can be lifted in a safe way.

Along with people getting vaccine doses, other things that could allow measures to be lifted sooner include a faster vaccine rollout, the control of transmission, testing and tracing, sufficient hospital capacity, and continued adherence of public health advice.
