A Calgary Zoo Tiger Took On A Wild Porcupine & The Apex Predator Didn’t Do Too Hot

Poor kitty.

If you've ever wondered who would win in a fight between a porcupine and a tiger, a little dust-up at the Calgary Zoo this weekend has found a definitive winner.

Earlier this week, a wild porcupine made its way into Sarma the tiger's habitat, and despite her being massively larger than the prickly lil' rodent, the poor thing came out of the encounter with over 100 quills embedded in her paws.

"Using its best defense mechanism – its quills – the porcupine escaped to safety but Sarma was left with a painful reminder of the encounter," said the Calgary Zoo on Instagram.

The veterinarian team carefully removed the quills from the tiger's paws and she seems to be doing better following the fight.

"Sarma recovered well from the procedure and can be seen in her outdoor habitat – albeit walking gingerly as she heals," said the Zoo. "The health and safety of the animals we love and care for is our utmost priority."
