On Tuesday, June 1, Jason Kenney made an announcement regarding second COVID-19 vaccine dose appointments in Alberta.

"Today I'm announcing that every Albertan who has received their first dose of vaccine will be able to book their second dose appointment by the end of June," said Kenney.

He noted that second dose appointments will be sequenced in the order that the first doses were administered. Therefore, if you were vaccinated in March or earlier, you can book your second dose right now. If you were vaccinated in April with your first dose, you can book on June 14. Finally, if you had your first dose in May, you can book starting on June 28.

He said that Albertans should be able to get their doses far sooner than that 16-week maximum interval laid out by the federal government.

"We expect most everyone awaiting their second dose should have it by the end of summer," he said. "We'll continue to prioritize first doses for anyone who wants to be vaccinated," though he did advise that you book soon because things are about to get busy with second dose appointments.
