The First Moderna Vaccines Just Landed In Canada & They're A 'Game-Changer' (PHOTO)

Merry Christmas, Canada!
Staff Writer

Christmas Eve is all presents being delivered, which is why it's so fitting that the latest Canada COVID-19 vaccine batch just landed in the country.

Justin Trudeau announced the good news in a tweet on Thursday afternoon and let Canadians know how many doses of the Moderna vaccine they can expect.

Canada's first doses of the COVID-19 vaccine arrived on December 14, but those were made by Pfizer/BioNTech.

Those vaccines have to be stored at ultra-cold temperatures, which makes moving them around logistically difficult.

But just 10 days later, Canada has another vaccine option. On Wednesday, Health Canada announced the Moderna vaccine had been approved for use.

This vaccine doesn't need any special storage containers, which means it can travel to more remote and rural places in Canada.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the shipment a welcome arrival.

"The Moderna vaccine is a real game-changer," Ford said.

"Yet another life-saving COVID-19 vaccine has been approved for safe and effective use in the province and in the country. We are taking another step towards ending this terrible pandemic."
