If you're looking for love, you may want to be aware of some Catfishers out there that have been preying on our fellow Canucks and scamming them out of some serious cash.

Quebec is the province most likely to fall for dating scams and lose money, followed by Ontario and B.C., according to a report from TechShielder based on data from 2020.

And it's not just a couple hundred dollars we're talking about. In Nova Scotia, the average amount of money lost per victim worked out to be a whopping $1,006,587.

In Ontario, the average amount lost per victim was $32,579.93. In B.C. it was $20,216.52, and in Quebec, it was $12,032.30.

In total, online romance fraud duped Canadians out of $58 million last year.
