You can experience a little taste of Christmas in Germany without leaving the province. This magical Ontario Christmas market will sweep you away to Europe and it's full of enchantment.

The Christkindl Market is returning to Glencolton Farm in West Grey on December 6 and 7, 2024.

Presented by Symphony in the Barn and the Friends of Glencolton Farm and Saugeen Academy, the festive event is an authentic European-style market brimming with traditional food and activities.

With candle-lit pathways and steaming apple cider served in a stable, you'll feel like you've stepped into a Christmas fairytale.

You can head to the cozy artisan village where you'll find all sorts of local vendors. This year, nine new vendors have been added, and you can expect items like crystals, bags, jewelry and candles.

One of the highlights of the market is the food. You can indulge in a range of authentic European treats that will have you feeling like you're in another country.

Some of the food options include sausage on a pretzel bun, fried apple fritters, fresh-baked pretzels and Krautfleckerln — an Austrian winter street food.

You can sip drinks like Glühwein which, according to the website, is "literally 'glow wine' or German mulled wine" and is "served at special stands at Christkindl markets throughout Germany and Austria."

During your visit, you can enjoy activities like horse-drawn wagon rides, candle dipping and walks around the Woodland Fairy Pond.

One of the market's most popular events is Messiah amongst the Cows, which features a symphony and choir performance of Part One of "Handel’s Messiah." Tickets are required for this experience.

If you're looking for a magical Christmas experience, this German-style market is worth a road trip.
