Senior Writer

The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is hiring for positions across the country.

These are high-paying jobs, and you don't need a university degree to make almost $100,000 or even more than that!

Currently, the federal intelligence and security agency is looking to staff Surveillance Officer and Tactical Internet Collection Officer positions.

These CSIS jobs are located in B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.

As a Surveillance Officer, you will:

  • conduct discreet physical surveillance in a vehicle and on foot
  • research and analyze information about surveillance
  • draft reports on the information gathered

You must complete a 16-week training course in Ottawa before working as a Surveillance Officer.

It's a pass/fail course, and you only get one opportunity to participate in the "intensive training program."

All of the temporary relocation expenses you incur to attend the training course are covered.

Tactical Internet Collection Officers are responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting information on threat-related activities using online open source intelligence tradecraft.

As a Tactical Internet Collection Officer, you will:

  • monitor specific subjects of investigations, identify investigative leads, and support the identification and development of new targets and sources
  • keep track of active investigations, relevant local threat environments, online trends, social media platforms and internet usage patterns of persons of interest
  • consult with operational units to gather and analyze their intelligence requirements
  • provide advice and explain results achieved, assess requirements, and write operational reports
  • maintain the safety and integrity of CSIS tactical online collection and identify capability gaps

Both of these positions require you to get an Enhanced Top Secret security clearance.

The process of receiving that security clearance involves a security interview, a polygraph, and a background investigation that includes credit and financial verifications.

Surveillance Officer

Salary: $77,427 to $94,177

Location: Burnaby, Calgary, Toronto, Gatineau and Montreal

Who Should Apply: Only Canadian citizens can apply for this job.

You must have a high school diploma and four years of experience, or a university degree or college diploma and two years of experience.

That experience needs to be working in a team environment and driving motor vehicles in various conditions (including city and rural roads, and weather events).

You need a valid and permanent Canadian driver's license, which is a G Class in Ontario or a minimum of a Class 5 in the rest of Canada.

Also, you must be able to work overtime, work nights and weekends, and travel based on operational needs.

There are various language requirements for Surveillance Officer positions, including bilingual non-imperative, English Essential, and French Essential.

The closing date is October 1, 2025.

There are various language requirements for the Tactical Internet Collection Officer job, including bilingual non-imperative and English essential.

The closing date is September 8, 2025.
