A photo has emerged of West Edmonton Mall over the weekend and Alberta's NPD leader does not like what she's seeing.

While malls are still open under Alberta's current health and safety restrictions, the photo looks quite crowded and people all over the internet and expressing concern.

Narcity has reached out to West Edmonton Mall for comment and we will update this article when we receive a response.

According to the Government of Alberta, shopping malls are allowed to open to the public at a capacity limit of 15%.

The limit includes common areas and individual stores.

Food courts can be open but only to grab and go.

West Edmonton Mall tweeted on December 9, the day after the enhanced measures were announced, saying “the health and safety of our guests, tenants and employees is our top priority.”

“Since the onset of the pandemic, our teams have worked very closely with AHS and the Government of Alberta on all restrictions and guidelines, including capacity,” the message continued.
