If you've got a bunch of Scene card points just sitting around collecting dust, you can now redeem them online and get gift cards for so many retailers and restaurants.

With restrictions continuing in theatres in a lot of provinces because of the pandemic, you’re probably not going to be heading out to see a movie any time soon. Redeeming points for tickets or concessions might not be what you want to do.

Cineplex's rewards program just launched a new e-commerce experience for members that lets you cash in your points to get money off at other retailers but you can still save at the movies too.

You can redeem Scene points in exchange for gift cards from Cineplex, Roots, Indigo, Foot Locker, Hudson’s Bay, Gap, Old Navy, Home Hardware and more.

With those retailers, there are variable amounts for the cards so you can choose how many points you want to cash in.

Savings are also available at restaurants like Swiss Chalet, Montana’s, East Side Mario’s, Milestones, Bier Markt, Kelsey’s, Fionn MacCool’s and D’Arcy McGee’s. You can get $10 off in exchange for 1,000 points.

At Harvey’s, trading in 500 points gets you $5 off.

There was some fear last year that Scene points could be lost when Cineplex was set to be bought out but the movie theatre chain assured Canadians that they would be safe.

However, that buyout never ended up happening.
