One local dog might have to go without any treats for the next little while after a bizarre Ontario car accident last week.

According to Ontario Provincial Police in North Grenville, about an hour south of Ottawa, officers responded to a call about a car accident only to find that the culprit behind the wheel was an actual dog.

The accident happened on December 9 at about 10 a.m., according to the OPP.

According to reports, a dog had somehow set a car in motion and injured his owner, who was trying to stop the car.

No paw prints were found leading away from the scene of the crime, as far as Narcity knows, and all reports indicate the dog stayed on the scene to chat to officers.

People on Twitter had a lot of fun with the OPP report, with one person wondering if the "inadvertent" nature of the accident was what the dog wanted officers to think.

"[The dog] told investigators we were barking up the wrong tree!" the OPP replied.
