New Year's Eve parties are not in the cards for Ontarians tonight, except for a certain group of people who seem to think the rules don't apply to them.

Niagara Regional Police say they are investigating a charter bus event that is planning to pick people up in cities all over the GTA.

According to police, pickups have been arranged in Toronto, Scarborough, York, Vaughan, Brampton, and Mississauga. The party will make its way to Niagara Falls.

It is unclear what is planned for attendees once dropped off in Niagara Falls, but the bus is expected to host live entertainment for patrons.

The event is planning to return all patrons to their respective communities by 3:00 a.m., Niagara Police told Narcity.*

"This is not in accordance with COVID-19 regulations," wrote Niagara Police. "We are investigating."

The province of Ontario remains in shutdown until January 9 in northern Ontario and January 23 in southern Ontario.

During this time, all non-essential businesses have been mandated to close and gatherings with other households are prohibited.
