Frontline workers rejoice! An Ontario hospital has officially been declared outbreak free after weeks of COVID-19 struggles.

LHSC’s University Hospital in London tweeted on Wednesday that it had successfully contained the disease for the first time since November.

"Thank you for the tireless efforts of staff, physicians and our community," wrote the celebratory post. 

However, the uplifting news also serves as a reminder of how dangerous COVID-19 outbreaks can be.

LHSC reported that 23 of its patients lost their lives as a result of the rapid spread.

While COVID-19 cases continue to rise, the Ontario government announced that it is working on rolling out vaccinations to 150,000 people per day by the spring.

Hospitals, pharmacies and mobile sites have been listed as potential places for people to get vaccinated.
