February has officially begun and Ontario's forecast for the month suggests that we're in for a rollercoaster.

According to The Weather Network, the province will experience somewhat of a battle between milder winter weather and frigid Arctic air.

In the first week of February, Ontario will get milder air surging in from the southeastern U.S., says TWN.

This pattern will reportedly shift in the second week of the month as Arctic air blasts the province, ushering in the coldest winter days of the season.

A sustained cold period will remain throughout mid-February, reports the outlet.

However, before the end of the month, those frigid temperatures might be pulled towards western Canada and Ontario's temperatures will become milder once again.

Ontario's January weather was characterized by "above-seasonal" temperatures, says TWN, but expect it to be colder on average in February.

The last week of January was especially freezing in the Toronto region, promoting the city to issue multiple extreme cold weather alerts.

The first day of spring is now 47 days away. Time to start the countdown!
