Many Ontarians woke up to a surprise this morning: a fresh blanket of snow.

Whether that is something that excites you or sends you back to bed for an extra fifteen minutes, Ontario's snowstorm has arrived and it's not slowing down just yet.

According to The Weather Network, the snow could fall for most of Tuesday — and even into Wednesday.

The heaviest precipitation and strongest winds are expected near southern Georgian Bay, and about 5 to 10 centimetres is set to fall in the Toronto area.

As Torontonians woke up to the freshly fallen layer of the white stuff, they took to social media to share their snaps.

Early morning TTC riders enjoyed the winter weather.

Other not-so-early risers enjoyed the view from the comfort and warmth of their homes.

In some areas of the city, the flakes were still falling steadily!

Residents took a moment to take in the tranquility.

And some decided to get a little funky to celebrate!

What a way to kick off December!
