After just one week of class, Peel School District is seeing some major changes. The district is delaying the start of their virtual classes after more than 10,000 students opted out of in-person ones, choosing to enroll in Peel online school instead. Following last week's overwhelming shift, a Brampton high school confirmed a case of COVID-19, CP24 reports. âOver the last few days, we have seen a significant increase in families switching from in-person learning to the PDSB [Peel District School Board] Online Schoolââ," read a letter to Peel District families. "We now have over 64,000 students enrolled online, which is an increase of over 10,000 students in the last week." Until then, they'll work through online orientation and self-guided learning experiences. Like you, I had hoped this would never happen in our school community,â the letter reportedly read. Despite the confirmed case, the Brampton school will remain open, the outlet reports. It has also undergone additional cleaning. âThese are truly unprecedented times, and we appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition back to school and as we navigate this new way of teaching and learning,â PDSB said. Districts all over Ontario have been pushing their start dates back, though this is the latest one to be announced yet.
