Get your DeLorean ready, we're going to the future. Walmart Canada stores are getting renovated and revamped over the next five years thanks to a multibillion-dollar investment. Once all of that is done, you'll even be able to check out from anywhere in the store.\nThe company announced that it's investing $3.5 billion over the next five years to change up the shopping experience both in-store and online.\nThe goal is to make everything simpler, faster and more convenient for shoppers.\nWith the investment, "stores of the future" are going to be created that are totally reinvented and modernized.\nThose locations will also be "smarter" because they will be really digital.\nThere will be new tap payment options available so you don't have to touch the pin pad and bigger self-checkout areas.\nAlong with that, employees will be able to check out customers literally anywhere in the store with mobile payment technology.\nSo, you probably won't have to wait in line at the cash register after all is said and done if you don't want to.\nThroughout the next three years, more than 150 stores in Canada will be renovated.\nThat's more than one-third of all the stores in the country.\nView this post on Instagram Found my pillows. A post shared by Aline Cristina Francescon (@francesconalinecristina) on Nov 25, 2019 at 12:14pm PST\nTwo new distribution centres in Ontario and B.C. are going to be built and an existing one is going to be renovated.\nThe Ontario one will be in Vaughan and is expected to open in 2024.\nIn Surrey, B.C., the new centre is already under construction and is expected to open in 2022.\nWalmart Canada said this will create hundreds of construction jobs.\nOver the last couple of months, Walmart has hired for thousands of positions and more jobs should become available in the future.\nThere are currently more than 400 locations across the country.
