On December 25, 2020, Sophie Grégoire Trudeau posted a video on social media to wish her fellow Canadians a Merry Christmas. She posted both a French and an English version.

“Hello everyone! Well, 2020 was a tough one,” she began. “But, you know what? There’s still so much love, hope, and opportunities ahead.”

“I’ve been so touched by what I’ve seen in the past year,” she said, referencing Canadians from coast to coast who have come together during these difficult times.

“Although we won’t be celebrating with our extended families or throwing big parties this year, we can still stay in touch.”

The prime minister’s wife said we need to make sure we stay in touch because it’s especially important when a lot of people are suffering and being isolated at this time.

She went on to send a shout-out to frontline workers and caregivers who are taking care of everyone.

Looking forward to 2021, she called the upcoming new year a “year filled with courage, and hope, and love, and great thriving opportunities.”

Sophie Grégoire Trudeau finished by sending all her best to Canadians and their families.

She blew a kiss and ended her message with a smile.
