When it comes to Canada’s international travel restrictions, the government says it’s not afraid to take the strongest action necessary. In a new notice, Public Safety Minister Bill Blair confirmed that restrictions on non-U.S. international travel would be extended until February 21, 2021. While this regulation doesn’t include visitors from the United States, discretionary trips between Canada and the U.S. are also restricted. Borders between Canada and the States remain closed to non-essential travellers until at least February 21. It's worth noting that the situation is likely to be reviewed before that date and any restrictions could continue to be extended further. “Our Government will never hesitate to take the strong action needed to keep Canadians safe from COVID-19 while maintaining essential trade with our international partners,” explained Blair in a tweet. He went on to say that Canada has some of the “strictest travel restrictions in the world” right now, thanks to enhanced pre-arrival testing and mandatory quarantine rules.
