The Coldest Spot In Colorado This Morning Was Actually Way Colder Than Antarctica

A thick jacket is probably not enough.

It should come as no shock to hear about Colorado experiencing some colder weather, but this one spot got just a little too cold for comfort.

The Antero Reservoir, located in central Colorado, earned the prestigious title of "Coldest Place in Colorado" for the day on Wednesday morning after it reached temperatures too low for any person to spend time outside in.

-50 F Wednesday morning temperature

The extremely low temp was even just 11 degrees away from beating the record for the coldest temperature ever recorded in the state, which was a bone-chilling -61 F on February 1, 1985.

The Antero Reservoir Wednesday morning was even experiencing far colder temperatures than what is routinely the coldest place on Earth, Antarctica, which only hit a low of -36 degrees on Wednesday.

The reservoir is so reliably cold every year that it even serves as an awesome spot to get some ice fishing done during the winter.

Lucky for residence in the area, the weather is actually supposed to warm up to a cozy 25 degrees for the rest of the day and is only set to drop to a chilly 2 degrees overnight according to The National Weather Service.
