IKEA is recalling 13 products in Canada and you can get a full refund with no receipt
You could trade in that old dresser for a full refund! 💰

IKEA Canada currently has 13 active product recalls, including one issued on Wednesday.
If you've bought anything from IKEA Canada recently — or even years ago — it might be time to check your drawers, shelves and kitchen cabinets.
The Swedish home goods giant currently has 13 active product recalls in Canada, including a new one that was issued just Wednesday morning.
From potential fire hazards to pieces that could randomly fall off your ceiling, these IKEA recalls cover a wide range of products and issues.
But the good news? If you have any of the affected items, IKEA is offering full refunds — with no receipt or proof of purchase required, and no deadline to return.
That means even if you picked up a piece five years ago and have no idea where the packaging went, you can still get your money back, or upgrade to a brand-new version. Plus, if you'd rather hang onto your item, some products may also qualify for free repairs or replacement parts.
According to IKEA Canada's recall policy, customers are urged to stop using recalled items immediately and either bring them back to the store or contact customer service for a refund, replacement or repair.
So, which IKEA items lurking in your home are due for an upgrade? Here are all 13 active product recalls at IKEA Canada right now.
IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press
IKEA 365+ VÄRDEFULL garlic press
Recalled models: article numbers 305.781.89 and 201.521.58 (sold in Canada), as well as 601.636.02 (sold elsewhere), with date stamps from 2411 to 2522
This sleek black garlic press might look harmless, but it comes with a potentially serious risk.
In a recall notice issued Wednesday, IKEA said that due to a production error in certain batches of this garlic press, small metal pieces could break off during use. Those metal bits could then end up in your food, which is definitely not what you want in your pasta sauce.
If yours has one of the affected date stamps, IKEA says to stop using it right away and bring it back for a full refund. You don't need a receipt, just check for the IKEA logo stamped on the upper handle.
VARMFRONT portable chargers
VARMFRONT portable chargers.
Recalled models:
- 10 400 mAh (model number E2038) with date stamps 2313, 2316, 2318, 2319
- 5 200 mAh (model number E2037) with date stamps 2318, 2319, 2322
These pocket-sized power banks might be great for travel — unless they catch fire.
IKEA is recalling specific batches of its VARMFRONT portable chargers after identifying a manufacturing defect that could cause the units to overheat and potentially catch fire.
The issue only affects certain date stamps, so you'll need to check the number printed on the charger casing. If yours matches, stop using it right away. IKEA is offering a refund or replacement, depending on your preference.
Other models and date stamps are not affected by the recall, so if you've got a VARMFRONT that's not on the list, you're in the clear.
ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger
ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger
Recalled models: dark grey model with article number 80461200 and model number ICPSW5-40-1
This USB charger might have been fine at first, but over time, it could become dangerous.
IKEA has discovered that the power cable on the ÅSKSTORM 40W USB charger can wear down, especially if it's been bent or wrapped around the device repeatedly. In some cases, this damage could lead to electric shock or even burns.
The affected models can be identified by checking the label on the back of the charger. If you find a match, unplug it and don't use it again. IKEA is offering a full refund for any of the recalled chargers.
LETTAN mirror
LETTAN wall-mounted mirror.
Recalled models:
- All date stamps before and including 2105
- All date stamps before and including 2325 with supplier number 21944
This frameless mirror has a clean, minimal look — but some models have a flaw that could send them crashing down.
IKEA has extended its recall on LETTAN mirrors due to faulty wall fittings that can break over time. This isn't a new recall — it was first issued in 2023 — but IKEA has since found that more batches were affected than originally thought.
If your mirror matches the listed date stamps or supplier code, stop using it right away. You can return it or request free replacement fittings.
Look for the date stamp and supplier number on the back label to see if yours qualifies — the date stamp is printed vertically on the far right side of the label, and the supplier number is the five-digit number that appears just to the right of the article number.
BLÅVINGAD fishing game
BLÅVINGAD children's fishing game.
Recalled models: all models
This cheerful kids' game might look fun, but there's a safety risk hiding in plain sight.
IKEA says small rivets on some versions of the BLÅVINGAD toy can come loose, creating a potential choking hazard for young children. It's especially concerning if the toy has seen some wear and tear over time.
If you have one at home, it's best to take it out of the toy box and return it. You can also contact IKEA if you're not sure what toy you have.
ODGER swivel chair
ODGER anthracite swivel chair.
Recalled models: anthracite colour with date stamps before and including 2221
These stylish chairs might just send you flying. IKEA says that on certain ODGER chairs in the anthracite colour, the star base legs can break due to a flaw in the plastic, posing a fall and injury risk.
If your chair is dark grey and you've had it for a while, check underneath the seat for the date stamp. IKEA's date stamps are formatted as YYWW, meaning chairs manufactured in or before the 21st week (late May) of 2022 are affected — so you might have been sitting on this chair for years without realizing it could spontaneously collapse.
METALLISK espresso maker (0.4L)
METALLISK 400-mL espresso maker.
Recalled models: all models with stainless-steel safety valve, date stamps from 2040 to 2204
This compact stovetop espresso maker might look sleek, but it has a flaw that could cause a real mess. IKEA says that a change in valve design created a chance that the whole thing could burst under pressure during use — not the kind of morning jolt you want.
Only models with the silver stainless-steel valve and the listed date stamps are affected — you'll find the stamp on the bottom of the unit. If yours matches, it’s time to switch to a different brewing method and bring this one back.
TRIPPEVALS and HOPPVALS cellular blinds
TRIPPEVALS and HOPPVALS cellular blinds.
Recalled models: all models purchased between May 1, 2021, and September 5, 2022
These window blinds are being recalled because they don't meet Canada's updated Corded Window Coverings Regulations.
While they haven't caused any reported safety issues, IKEA is still pulling them to stay compliant with the new rules, which came into effect in May 2021. As of September 5, 2022, any blinds sold from these product lines had been updated to be compliant with the new rules.
If you bought yours during the affected period, you can return it for a full refund — but no proof of purchase is needed.
HEROISK and TALRIKA dishware
HEROISK and TALRIKA dishware
Recalled models: all plates, bowls and mugs in these series
These brightly coloured dishes are lightweight and handy — but certain models may crack or break during use, leading to possible burns.
IKEA says that some HEROISK and TALRIKA dishware has snapped unexpectedly, posing a burn risk if the item was holding hot food or drinks.
Even though not every item in the series has caused a problem, the company is recalling all plates, bowls and mugs in both lines just to be safe. If you've got any of these in your kitchen, IKEA says it's best to stop using them and return them, even if they still look fine.
KULLEN 3-drawer chest
KULLEN 3-drawer chest.
Recalled models: all KULLEN 3-drawer chests
This longtime IKEA classic has been discontinued and recalled due to a change in furniture safety standards. After 14 years of sales, IKEA pulled the KULLEN dresser in response to a recent standards update affecting tip-over risks for chests and dressers.
While IKEA says the KULLEN is safe to use if properly anchored — and there have been no reports of serious injuries — the company is offering full refunds for customers who haven't secured theirs to the wall.
If you want to keep the now-discontinued dresser, you can also get a free anchoring kit, and IKEA will even send someone to your home for a one-time wall installation service at no charge.
MATVRÅ children's bibs
MATVRÅ children's bib
Recalled models: Blue/Red 2-pack
These kids' bibs might look cute, but IKEA says the button can detach and create a choking hazard.
The recall only applies to the blue/red 2-pack — other MATVRÅ designs, like the fruit/vegetable and yellow/green patterns, are made differently and aren't affected.
If you've got the blue/red version at home, take it out of circulation and bring it back. You don't need a receipt to return it, and there's no time limit on bringing it in.
GLIVARP dining table
GLIVARP dining table.
Recalled models: white frosted extendable version
If you have this extendable dining table at home, it's time to stop using it and bring it back.
IKEA says that on the white frosted version of the GLIVARP dining table, the extension can detach from the rails and fall — a risk that could catch anyone off guard during a meal.
The recall is specific to this version and doesn't affect other GLIVARP finishes. The issue is tied to the sliding mechanism used in this model, and IKEA issued the recall after receiving customer reports.
If yours fits the description, it's best to stop using the extension leaf and bring the table back for a refund or exchange.
CALYPSO ceiling lamp
CALYPSO ceiling lamp.
Recalled models: all date stamps from 1625 to 1744 (purchased after August 1, 2016)
This ceiling lamp might light up your space — but in some cases, its glass shade could fall without warning.
IKEA says it has received reports of shades detaching from CALYPSO lamps made during a specific manufacturing period. As a result, the company has recalled all affected models with date stamps between 1625 and 1744.
This light may have been hanging around your home for years — IKEA's date stamps are formatted as YYWW, meaning this recall affects lights produced anytime from the 25th week (late June) of 2016 to the 44th week (early November) of 2017. You'll find the date code on the lamp housing, so check there if you're unsure.
