Less than 24 hours after Quebec implemented a mandatory mask rule in indoor public spaces, a man has been arrested for refusing to wear a face mask in Tim Hortons.

Montreal police confirmed that the incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, at the Tim Hortons on Papineau Street in the Villeray–Saint-Michel–Parc-Extension borough.

In a since-deleted video shared by Sandra Bourgoin on Facebook, the man could be seen being asked to wear a mask by a police officer, per the new provincial rules.

The now-viral clip shows the man refusing multiple times to wear a face covering. The situation escalates and the officer pins the man to the ground.

Police were called to the scene when the man refused to wear a mask, and then refused to leave the store. He has been given a date to appear in court, and he faces charges of resisting and/or willfully obstructing a peacekeeper.
