With dazzling lights, festive charm, and a starring role in a Netflix Christmas movie, this Ontario town feels like it was made for the holidays. If you're looking for a day trip or weekend getaway this season, this magical destination is the place to be.

In a post on Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked readers what the best place to spend the Christmas holidays in Canada is. Hundreds of commenters shared their top picks, and this Ontario destination was one of the destinations mentioned.

Brockville, Ontario is a quaint region located along the shores of the St. Lawrence River. While it's technically a city, it's brimming with small-town vibes and holiday enchantment.

It recently served as a filming location for the Netflix Christmas film Hot Frosty. The movie was released in November and features Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert and Schitts Creek star Dustin Milligan.

According to Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, Brockville "plays a huge role in Hot Frosty and is featured prominently in the film as the fictional town of Hope Springs. The city's main centre, Brockville Court Plaza, is the setting for the Annual Snow Sculpture Competition where Jack first comes to life."

You can also head to Brockville's Keystorm Pub, which served as Kathy's Cafe in the film. According to the Netflix in Your Neighbourhood website, it's a place "where visitors and locals alike can enjoy delicious food, cold drinks and fun activities like live music, karaoke, trivia, and open mic nights."

If you're looking for some Christmas cheer around Brockville this holiday season, you can head to River of Lights, a free light and sound show taking place on Blockhouse Island until January 6, 2025.

Clow's Christmas Trail is another magical spot to visit in the Brockville area. You can follow a 1.5 kilometre path through a glittery wonderland.

With Netflix-worthy Yuletide charm and festive events, Brockville is worth a holiday road trip.
