A New York man was caught and arrested after telling a potential Bumble date that he stormed the United States Capitol during the January 6 riots.

Court documents show that Robert C. Chapman, 50, told an individual on the popular dating app that he "did storm the capitol," and that he even "made it all the way to Statuary Hall," but little did he know that the person would decide to take action.

Chapman also bragged about being interviewed by members of the media during the riot, to which the Bumble user simply replied, "We're not a match."

The Bumble conversation was held on January 13, just one week after the Capitol insurrection took place, and the individual quickly sent a screenshot of it to law enforcement.

The dating app conversation paired with body camera footage released by the Metropolitan Police Department helped confirm his identity and his claim of being at the Capitol on that day and he was charged on four misdemeanours including "Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct on Capitol Grounds."
