Some visitors were recently arrested in Alberta after shooting a slingshot at a cougar in Banff National Park. 

In an email sent to Narcity, Parks Canada said that the incident happened on May 31, 2020. Officers were notified of a report of an Alberta cougar "being harassed near Lake Louise."

The officers apprehended more than one person after following up on a vehicle description and photos provided by the public. 

Following the slingshot incident, the cougar was safely returned to the correct side of the fencing and away from the highway. 

One of the individuals who was arrested has been identified by CBC News as a 40-year-old man from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was charged for "disturbing wildlife in a national park and possession of a firearm," which carries up to $125,000 in fines.
